This is my cat, Meesha. As in my other
images of this special cat with a perfect
mustache, she has a look that captures your
attention. This is one of the first images
I took of the little kitten in my hotel room
on the trip where I met her. Meesha came
into my life while I was visiting
Greensboro, North Carolina. The cat was a
stray that was found in a ghetto area of the
city. She has the nickname of “bebe”
because of her peck in the order of four
other cats in the household at the time she
arrived. When she was left in the hotel
room for three days, she quickly grew into a
pet and future companion. She followed me
home to Cincinnati and acted like the
special cat she would become from the moment
she got into the car for the 8 hour drive.
She contently sat like the Buddha for most
of the trip and constantly gazed out the
window at the passing American landscapes
that her owner lovingly photographs. In
this photograph she has found a place where
I find her every night… usually on my legs.
What you see is the cat sitting on my new
blue jeans. Her paws were placed in that
wonderful position that reminds me of the
Buddha. She sits like this whenever she is
content and this was probably the first time
I saw her this way. She had been running
around like crazy through the room, but when
she finally settled in that first night, I
found her contently looking at me like “I
think I like it here”. The image captures
the perfect kitten face and mustache. A
classic.
