I will be attending the unveiling of the newly restored, vintage World War Two B17, The Memphis Belle, the famous aircraft that was the first 17 to achieve 25 missions.
After years of meticulous restoration, this aircraft will be unveiled at the Air Force Base for the first time. I am attending the historic event with my brother.
My father, Alfred Hollritt, was a ball turret gunner based in Molesworth, UK in 1944 and flew over 25 missions during his stay in Britain during the war. It is in his honor and all the veterans of the Army Air force who served in Britain that I wanted to see the first B17 that achieved 25 missions be unveiled and presented to the public for the first time.
